Revolution? Anxiety? Never mind that.

This week it seems the editors of TIME magazine went out of their way to shield American readers from actual news.

It’s normal for TIME to run different covers internationally, but this seems strange, doesn’t it? —

Time Magazine, Why Anxiety Is Good For You, Revolution Redux

* * * *

The world braces for revolution… Meanwhile in America, we are helpfully told that a constant state of stress and dissatisfaction is actually healthy!

It’s like something from Orwell. “War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength. Anxiety is Good For You.”

    Um, I’m with you on the covers, but there’s something to be said for anxiety as a natural, healthy, and (yes) helpful response to perils such as, um, climate change. I’d like to see folks in the US feel more fear about that!

  2. Erik Oompa says:

    Why in the hell does Time Magazine do this? The faceless, nameless Islamic mob has taken over. Everything is collapsing into a new world order. Who will rule what? The rebel in the post-apocalyptic scene has declared victory and is coming to dominate us all. To propel us into the Age of Ashes.

    Why do we get that, and Americans get some badly drawn bald man with some red string in front of him? We get the message that there will be chaos, you are told that that chaos is good for you. Thanks a lot, you lousy bastards.

    Notice the David Star on the american cover…

    What the fuck? “The rebel is coming to dominate us all”? Gosh… Now I see Time has done a good job to this frightened people. But actually, what they all fear is true, in someway… Capitalism won’t last long… That’s why they need to keep saying that being unhappy is good because it leeds you to be more productive…! …They just don’t wanna see the end is coming.
