Fri. Oct. 10, 2003 - Government ministry buildings, New Delhi Riding around the city in a rickshaw is a bit of a thrill. Of course, when you're on vacation, "thrill" is just a nice word for "danger." Luckily, my driver got us safely to the fancy government building complex in New Delhi. Here, I saw the president's house and the various ministry buildings, including the ones in this picture. You can't smell this picture, but if you could, it would smell like some of the worst air pollution you've ever inhaled. Delhi is ferociously polluted, thanks to millions of people, fossil-fuel power plants, and many coal and wood cooking fires lit in the streets.
