Sun. Oct. 12, 2003 - Taj Mahal at dawn

We woke up early Sunday to see the Taj Mahal in the morning light. You've seen this picture a thousand times, but pictures barely do justice to the Taj Mahal; being there is like walking in front of a giant painting. The air pollution actually enhances this building's beauty, softening its edges and making it glow as if cloaked in mist. The Taj is a mausoleum completed in 1653 as a tomb for the wife of a Mughal emperor. You're allowed to go in after removing your shoes, but you are not permitted to take pictures inside.
